Mix #19

I found some old songs I liked back in the day on youtube, it got me to reminiscing about the good ol' days of 'o1-'02. Senior year in highschool, the surrounding summers... best of times, worst of times, yadda yadda.

It got me thinking, I miss making mix CDs. The whole concept of putting together 80mins of music in such a way that made me wanna listen to it straight, it was like a ritual. Making sure they're songs I liked (even if it was just at the moment), making sure the songs worked with the next one so that the CD had nice flow... I really miss that.

Especially since my MP3 player is busted.

Sometimes my CDs had a theme, sometimes they didn't. Sometimes it was all punk and ska, sometimes it was techno/softrock/r&b/tv themes. It all depended on my mood, and depended on my tastes at the time of creation. And man, were my tastes ever varied (and, well, questionable). I mean, check out this one:

"Mix #19"

1. Relient K - Sadie Hawkins Dance
2. Relient K - Marilyn Manson Ate My Girlfriend
3. Value Pac - Loner
4. Craig's Brother - Homecoming
5. Undecided - Choices
6. Five Iron Frenzy - Oh, Canada
7. Dispatch - The General
8. Nickelback - How You Remind Me
9. Linkin Park - In The End
10. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Change The World
11. Jelleestone - Money
12. Black Eyed Peas - Request Line (I think ft. Macy Gray, and yes, pre-whereisthelove)
13. J-Lo ft. Ja Rule - I'm Real Remix
14. Destiny's Child - Brown Eyes
15. Destiny's Child - Emotions
16. City High - What Would Ya Do
17. Blue Cantrell - Hit 'Em Up Style
18. Reel Big Fish - Song #3
19. Jagged Edge - Where The Party At Remix ft. JD, Da Brat, ROC, Nelly, Lil Bow Wow
20. Kurupt ft. Natina - It's Over Now
21. They Might Be Giants - Particle Man
22. They Might Be Giants - Boss of Me

So yeah, not my most favourite mix CD of mine, not even close, but it kinda shows you the variety/fun I must've had putting something like this together. I mean, there's gotta be at least 6 different Genres on this disc! Haha... and it FLOWS.

Edit - Perfect example of flow: song 19. Where the Party At, it ends with "it's over... dawg!"
... check out the next song! Hahaha...

You know what? That was FUN.

Now, I don't know if it's the 4am-iness talking, but I think I might do a little blog series about the different mix CDs I made previously. Starting from the days before I've even HEARD of "punk", or "ska", or anything even remotely alternative-y... yes, back to the time as a Z-child, heheh....

I don't know, would you guys be interested? I mean, not that it really matters to my decision, but you know... taking a peek into what my previous musical tastes were ...sounds boring? No?

Nine Days Later...

Yup, blogging again.

Worked kinda dragged on, esp. since Adrian wasn't around... being alone on the job kinda sucked.

My phone died in the middle of talking to Ruana. That SUCKS.

Then I had my friggin' worst game of ultimate EVER... I singlehandedly destroyed the positive momentum early on w/ three disgusting throws that lead directly to the opposition's points. Although in my defence, they made me handle. If ever I handle, I needs the adrenaline, not right at the beginning of the game! As can be inferred by my tone, we lost handily to a team we've already beaten. That SUCKS.

Then I walked home. Until about Alma, when I realized that walking home was making me even more depressed. It was like an extended walk of shame, for all you knowledgeable ultimate players out there.

And I don't get to see Ruana 'til Sunday... boo hoo hoo etc... But yeah, on that note, I think I was kinda bummed after not watching the movie yesterday, so I became all insomniac again. 3 hrs of sleep isn't enough for work and ultimate.

And, AND, to top it all off, I just finished making the nastiest pot of spaghetti I've ever made... crap dammit...

When it rains, it pours... even when the skies disagree...

Until next time, I guess...

[Edit - Okay, well the spaghetti still tastes really good... perhaps this is an omen of the winds of change...]

[Edit 2 - ...I don't know if it's the lack of hunger, or if I hit bottom, or what, but DANG that spaghetti was delicious... perhaps I should use a pound of seasalt everytime I cook pasta... heheh...]

Surprisingly Unsurprising

Over the past few weeks, I've blogged less and less, and my desire for blogging has been steadily diminishing.

Perhaps I don't need to anymore.

The awesomeness of Saturday, from morning to night, is kinda just the icing on the cake really.

But yeah, life is good. I think I'll take a hiatus from blogging for a while.

See ya

So I guess no beachcombing for tomorrow then. Oh well, I went to the beach today, and DANG was it awesome. It's even more awesome when there's someone to share it with :p

Maybe I'll watch a movie at the hollywood.

Or maybe I'll just SLEEP. Like, what I should be doing now.

Anybody up for going to the beach on Thursday evening?? Tomorrow's too short notice, and friday I'm busy... so, if you guys are out in vancouver, and feel like coming out, gimme a call or what not. I'll be down in kits or Jericho, depending on my mood.

Good times are to be had by all!

[oh, and btw, we won both games in ultimate! WOO!]

This morning, was supposed to go out, but was cancelled. Wasted the afternoon on stupid decade-old computergame. I think I'm gonna delete it, wasting far too much time now.

Then Alan and I bussed to the Dublanko's, had the dinner, DELICIOUS, trampoline w/ the kids, bubbletea, etc etc... good times.

...uh, yup.

It's funny how really great evenings get less blogspace than the crappy emo ones, haha.

I hereby publicly apologize to my good friend Reuben, as I did not mean to offend.
